Liza Zito
Tiffany & Co. Chicago DirectorLiza Zito was a humble history major before acting on her love for fashion and taking a job in the business sales department at Tiffany & Co. She quickly decided to leave history in the past and now, fifteen years later, Liza is the group director for Tiffany’s Chicago flagship store, overseeing day-to-day activities at the massive Michigan Avenue location, working with customers and, most importantly, coordinating the company’s philanthropic outreach in Chicago (she’s worked with the American Cancer Society, Parkways Foundation, Field Museum, Art Institute, San Miguel Schools and countless others). This year, both Tiffany & Co. and the city of Chicago celebrate their 175th birthdays, and Liza is as excited as ever to be a part of both. She lets us in on the dos and don’ts of jewelry and some of her beauty faces.

Q: What jewelry do you have on every day?
A: I don’t feel well dressed unless I have on a spectacular ring, diamond studs and a luxurious bracelet. I love Jean Schlumberger’s enamel and gold bangles and usually have on at least two of them.
Q: For a special occasion?
A: I like to layer on Elsa Peretti’s Diamonds by the Yard—the more the better.
Q: What is one accessory-related mistake you see people making all the time?
A: I always counsel my customers that less is more. I’d rather see someone wear one fabulous piece than lots of competing looks.
Q: And for you that one fabulous piece is…?
A: Jean Schlumberger’s Bird on a Rock brooch. It makes any LBD a show-stopper.
Q: Besides jewelry, are there any other accessories you wouldn’t leave home without?
A: My Tiffany Manhattan Satchel in Glazed Crocodile.
Q: You’re super involved with the company and philanthropy, so how do you spend your rare free time?
A: When I’m not in the store, I usually have my running shoes on. My favorite thing to do is take a long run along the lakefront.
Q: Sounds relaxing. Where is paradise for you?
A: The Carlton Hotel in Cannes.
Q: And even though we think we know the answer, what do you always splurge on?
A: Jewelry!
