Lily Duevel
Founder, adoptedSTYLEYou thought you were busy? Ladies, you’ve met your match. Meet Lily Duevel. As a rising star in Chicago’s style scene, Lily’s current posts would make any fashion lover squeal. Lily serves as the Fashion and Lifestyle Sales Director at Cheeky Chicago and as the brand new style contributor for The CHICago Life Blog. And we love the company she founded, adoptedSTYLE, whose motto is all about adapting and adopting trends to fit a variety of personal clients (a motto that we think is important in a saturated ‘wear this!’ and ‘don’t wear that!’ style culture!). And recently, we snagged Lily to style our beach babe-fueled fashion show at the closing party of TechWeek Chicago. The result? A throwback to the 60’s with big hair, free love fashion and legs for miles. But forget summer! We’re shopping for our Fall wardrobes and Lily is just the person to push for the perfect staples (Lily’s obsessed with anything cognac!) in this week’s G&F Spotlight.

Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: Classic, Refined and Sophisticated.
Q: You’ve got your hands in a lot of different pots in Chicago, how do you keep it all straight?
A: With a lot of OCD and organization! I have seemed to always juggle numerous different roles ever since high school and somehow just fell in love with two different worlds: Sales & Styling. I’ve never been willing to give either one of them up and I have been fortunate to land opportunities that allow me to channel both passions.
Q: We’re heading into Fall: tell us what’s on your shopping list for Fall must-haves?
A: Fall is by far my favorite season! Every year I allow myself to purchase one new great handbag, cognac colored leather knee-high boots, and bulky sweaters for layering.
Q: What trends are you staying away from?
A: There’s no trend that I at least won’t try out once however, menswear is probably the trend that I follow the least.
Q: Beauty and fashion elevator pitch: GO!
A: I am a true believer that less is more. I think that beauty comes from within and that people will still be able to see your sparkle even if you’re in no make up, an American Apparel t-shirt, and yoga pants.
Q: And we have to know because you’re so darn down-to-earth: Favorite fall bargain find?
A: My nude colored, Tory Burch Patent Caroline Ballet Flats that were marked down at Nordstrom because of a scuff. I used goo gone and a magic eraser when I got home and the scuff was immediately gone! I win.
