Laura Lombardi
Designer, Laura Lombardi JewelryThere is something about cool-girl Laura Lombardi we just love, and since it’s our Spring Accessories issue we had to include this Italian beauty in the mix. The jewelry designer creates geometric pieces exuding romance and mysticism out of her Fulton Market studio. Laura often looks to vintage or repurposed materials to build her pensive pieces and collections and leans on 16 years of living in Italy and New York as a source of inspiration for her creativity. And she’s 360 degrees beautiful—her instagram is a must-follow, showcasing a keen peek behind the scenes of her namesake operation (follow her @lauralombardi). Read on to see what Laura is playing on her spring playlist (it’s so good, of course!), Chicago stomping grounds and what she’s packing in her weekend getaway bag this season. Oh, and because you’ll totally end up loving her beauty look, she dishes the best beauty advice she’s gotten below, too!

Let’s talk design—what inspires you?
My inspiration generally stems from broader themes like mysticism, classic Italian art and imagery and religious or ceremonial objects. When designing, I zero in on a concept related to these themes and go from there. The designs themselves focus on repetition, symmetry and have a raw and pared down theme to them.
It’s been a long winter. What’s your spring break out anthem?
I haven’t chosen an anthem yet, but so far my spring playlist includes a lot of Blood Orange, Mac DeMarco and Action Bronson.
Favorite warm weather stomping grounds?
In the rare moments I won’t be cooped up in the studio, I’ll be on the Big Star patio and OSB at Longman & Eagle.
You have to break out sometime—Any summer vacation plans?
Sneaking out of town at least once for a weekend on Lake Michigan and a Catskills trip in NY.
What’s in your weekend getaway pack list?
SPF 50. Too many bulky magazines: favorites include Dossier journal, Purple fashion & New York Time’s T magazine. Aloha’s “the daily good” packets so I never find myself without green juice!
All time favorite summer holiday—go!
A week in the Alps at the Italian/Austrian border. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I’m not a big beach person, but the quiet of the mountains really appeals to me.
We have to admit, we totally crush on your beauty. Best beauty advice you can share?
Best beauty tip you ever received: From my mother: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. From my friend and beauty guru Shannon O’Brien, never underestimate the power of an eyelash curler.
