Jessi Sheehan

Stylist, Evolve

For stylist Jessi Sheehan, dressing up comes oh-so-naturally. Heading the Chicago-based styling firm Evolve, Jessi’s eye for creating her client’s signature looks is spot-on and it’s that attention to detail that has turned her roster of stylish clients into natural beauties. And this is not a coincidence. Jessi’s work ethic? A killer sense of humor in a killer pair of kicks. It’s a balance of finding the perfect look for her clients and having a little fun while doing it—dare we say that Jessi and G&F have a lot in common? The young company is under Ben Mahoney’s umbrella of creative services and the dynamic duo attack each project head-on with Jessi continually bringing the total style package to the table. And although Jessi’s current look du jour is nothing less than fab, we couldn’t help but ask to peek at the skeletons in her closet—the old Halloween ones! In this week’s G&F Spotlight, we talk trick-or-treats of past and her dream costume—pending a $30,000 loan.

Q: You’re a stylish girl on the go? What’s your beauty secret?
A: Play up your best feature. Take good care of your body inside and out. Be happy with who you are now.

Q: And on your must-shop list this Fall?
A: It’s a long list! A navy jumpsuit, peep toe booties with stacked heel in tonal grey or olive, cropped leather jacket/blazer (more chic, less moto looking), and a chunky oversized sweater.

Q: Let’s talk Halloween. Best childhood costume?
A: I love dressing up. My mom made all of my sister and I’s costumes every year. When I was in 4th grade she sewed me a pleather body suit and I was cat woman. I even wore black claws on my nails.

Q: Any other childhood runner-ups?
A: I hated Disneyworld as a child. The characters terrified me. But my Minnie Mouse costume was one of my favorite costumes. I would wear it well beyond Halloween.

Q: And this year?
A: Last year I was ‘Where’s Waldo’, and so I think I am going to go the same route as a male character with a feminine twist.  Of course my version of Waldo meant cutoff jean shorts and red stacked heel booties. I am not much of a fairy or animal costume gal. I have always considered dressing as the Mad Hatter. Maybe this is the year.

Q: And if you could style the sh*t out of any costume, what would you be?
A: Definitely Jessica Rabbit, gone luxe.  I would do it way over the top wearing a custom Marchesa or McQueen red strapless sequin gown, some divine purple leather gloves, and of course platforms from Jimmy, Manuel, or Christian. Nothing like a $30,000 costume. VA VOOM.
