Meet its professional counterpart: Goldplaited Finishing Salon. The uber-femme Lincoln Park retreat is a girly girl’s dream—a place to come get primped and preened by a team of talented makeup and hair pro’s whose main goal is to make you look like you’ve been rolling with the Kardashian’s beauty team. Founded by makeup maven sisters Corinna (left) and Mal (right) Strong—who swear they’ve never crushed on the same boy!—G&F lets the pair sound off on some beauty moments for the new year. And while Goldplaited celebrates every type of beauty and trend (Go Beauty!), we can tell you one thing: you won’t see Co rocking the Fresh Face look and Mal won’t be caught dead in blue eyeliner. And that’s why we can put our trust in this pair—they know what’s hot for whom, what’s not for you and if you give them two hours, you’ll walk out an absolute bombshell.

We die over your name.
Mal: Goldplaited is a proper noun, but it’s also a verb. “Hey girl, I have the day off work – lets get goldplaited!” Also a fun trivia fact is—we coined the term “finishing salon.”  Go ahead: Google it! We’re the first salon to call ourselves this, but based on the response we’re sure it’s going to become a category of its own!

What’s the inspiration?
Co: The design is based on that chic, city chick who has a slight swag to her. People often winced when we said our theme was “gold and white,” imagining garish mismatched gold but I think we did a great job of finding warm, complimentary splashes of metallic. We wanted to create the perfect space for gal’s to get glam and feel a little like a celebrity for the day.

You’re sisters. What is the one thing each of you would take from the other’s closet?
Co: Is it bad to say that I already have? Mal copped these amazing emerald green, suede sneaker wedges with studs this past summer. It wasn’t long before I was begging to borrow them almost every weekend. She’s very generous with her closet and before long they are on permanent loan in mine.

Did you ever fight over boys?
Co: No! No no no. Our tastes could not be more different when it comes to men so luckily that has never been an issue.

Mal: Co loves her some nerdy hipster types—tall and preferably with glasses!

Spring beauty make up trends you’re dying to try?
Co: Color, color, color! Bring on that radiant orchard, emerald green and tangerine orange. I migrate towards brown, gold and oxblood in the winter but I’m so ready to make those eyes pop with pastels.

Mal: I love the new look of super simple makeup with the focus on a thin line of black eyeliner rimming the entire eye.
