Aug 24, 2015 >> Fall Beauty Lineup!
As we begin to lust after the must-have fall trends, we can really appreciate a revamped look that doesn’t break the bank, but keeps us looking like a million bucks. In steps Kristina Marie Feyerherm—a Chicago makeup artists and familiar face on G&F sets—to show us how to bring the standout beauty of the runway to recreate at home.
Let us revel in the last few weeks of balmy summer weather, but not neglect the inevitable: Fall is coming. As someone who works with hundreds of products and countless name brands, Kristina is giving us just the right tips to spruce up our makeup bags to include transitional items and hot beauty trends for a new season. Below is a rundown of how to revamp your routine from warm to cool weather as makeup trends and skincare concerns transform.
Kristina says: While a lightweight, SPF-laced hydrater is great on sunny days, the fall months are going to leave our complexions craving something more substantial and reparative. BELIF THE TRUE CREAM AQUA BOMB, $22 (C) is a perfect option for almost all skin types. The gel-like formula absorbs quickly while flooding the skin with plumping and cooling ingredients. It’s heavy on antioxidants to help fight the aging effects of sun exposure.
Kristina says: Mattifying bases are typically preferred in the summer because they can better endure heat and humidity. Fall is a time to invest in tinted moisturizers. You can afford to add a little moisture into your makeup routine in an effort to maintain your beach-fresh glow. JOUER LUMINIZING MOISTURE TINT, $40 (D) is award winning for a reason!
Kristina says: This is the best time of year to ditch your crusty powder and experiment with a liquid bronzer. LAURA MERCIER FOUNDATION PRIMER RADIANCE BRONZE, $34 (A) is a must-have in my kit this time of year. On medium to tan tones, I use it all over underneath foundation to prime and enhance. On fair to light tones, I buff it over the high planes of the face on top of foundation for a sun kissed kick.
Kristina says: Waterproof mascara is great for outdoor activities on humid days, but prolonged use can be damaging to your lashes. A gentler alternative that’s still guaranteed not to budge is a tubing mascara, like MAC EXTENDED PLAY LASH, $17 (E). It lasts up to 16 hours without smearing or smudging, but rinses easily with warm water.
Kristina says: Glosses and tinted balms are summertime staples, but fall is a perfect time to bust out the berry tones. They’re just punchy and rich enough to contrast with your more subdued cool weather wardrobe. BITE BEAUTY FROZEN BERRIES MATTE CREME LIPSTICK, $24 (F) has a gorgeous collection with a creamy matte shade for every skin tone. Or if gemtones are too romantic for you, try a softer entrée into Fall. ESSENCE LONG LASTING NUDE LOVE LIPSTICK, $2.99 (B) gives the right coverage and won’t break the bank to try out a new trend.
