Apr 19, 2014 >> Eco-Chic! Bike Friendly Outfits

Is your love for sartorial expression cramping your biking habits or vice versa? It’s the constant battle for any style-loving biker: It seems like such a chore to plan a ride to the office or cocktail hour with friends—especially if you want to look cute and polished. If you have panic attacks of tousled hair, sweaty everything and wardrobe malfunctions, we’re here to help with three bike-friendly looks. All sans leggings!

And these looks are all safety & modesty-approved! Even though we see it quite a bit, riding your bicycle in a skirt or dress just isn’t pragmatic or classy. And to make sure you reach point B in one stylish piece, we’re going to go ahead and endorse closed-toed shoes for your journey. We’ve created three looks to take you on your bike and beyond. Mother Earth is totally going to crush on your outfit, too.

The majority of the daily schlep is to and from the office, right? We love a great faux leather backpack to hold everything and to hold your jacket while in transit, because remember, hot outside and cold AC blasting inside. H&M created the “tregging.” It’s one part trouser, one part legging and a whole lot of mobility. Layer a light, airy tunic over them and you’re ready for business.

1. TREGGINGS, $17.95, AT H&M // 2. SKIN WRAP CUFF, $295, BY KARA BY KARA ROSS // 3. FRAYED STRIPED JACKET, $99.90, AT ZARA // 4. MARTA MINAMALIST BACKPACK, $54.99, BY DEENA & OZZY AT URBAN OUTFITTERS // 5. TANNER BLOUSE, $275, BY STEPHAN SCHNEIDER AT LA GARCONNE // 6. LAVERNE TASSLE LOAFERS, $55, AT TOPSHOP

A romper is the ultimate alternative to a dress and they come in so many shapes, cuts, colors and patterns. A staple accouterment to an evening affair is a standout clutch, so we looked for one that converts to a crossbody for safe riding. Et Voila: your Saturday night just got totally eco-chic.
