Feb 24, 2014 >> G&F Jet Set Guide: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
In this week’s issue, we’re talking all things getaway. Although you may not have the opportunity this season to get a great tan on a sandy beach, sometimes it’s just about new experiences that make the winter weather that much more bearable. Our recent fix? We hop on the train and head to Milwaukee for the weekend. The city is a perfect mix of culture and fun—two of our favorite things at G&F.
what to pack, you ask? 1. PENDLETON SILETZ JACKET, $220 // 2. MADEWELL SLOANE MINI-SATCHEL, $178 // 3. LAURA LOMBARDI TRAPEZOID NECKLACE, $55 // 4. FOREVER 21 BASEBALL CAP, $8.80 // 5. AREAWARE MINIM PLAYING CARDS, PRICE UPON REQUEST // 6. ROYALL RUGBY COLOGNE, $39.50
Arriving in the main Amtrak terminal, we head immediately to the Iron Horse Hotel which is hands-down the most recommended property in the city. We immediately see why. The rustic chic hotel lobby is a flurry of activity, but it’s the sizeable and comfy rooms that really had our heart. With only a day and a half, we run through the city to find our favorite spots. Twice we go back to Caroline’s Jazz Club, a classic jazz joint that looks like it could be the set of Murphy Brown. And of course, a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum (pictured above) is an inspiring afternoon.
We’ve got other favorites, too. Check out our printable G&F Jet Set Guide for your all-in-one weekend getaway guide to Milwaukee.
