Jan 29, 2014 >> #5MinutesWith our new co-host Candis Hickman
G&F has met their match. Meet Candis Hickman, the aussie-born bombshell whose zest for life is as big as her hair. Candis, who comes to Chicago by way of Brisbane, Australia, is serving up more fun for the G&F screen as our new co-host. The natural born beauty has had previous on-air experience, but it’s Candis’ girl next door vibe that we’re digging at G&F.
Before Candis graces the screen again (catch her first G&F interview here), we wanted to grab #5MinutesWith her so you could see a little peek inside her life. Want more? Judging by Candis’ last answer, we’re pretty sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her very soon!
How will you bring an Australian sensibility to G&F?
I’d say most Australians I know have a simple enjoyment of life —an appreciation for minimalism and of not taking life too seriously. I am one of these Aussies! G&F already has this brightness and constant feeling of summer that I hope to enhance!
Best beauty advice ever given?
Don’t shampoo your hair. Sounds crazy but us thick, curly hair chicks need all the moisture from natural oils we can get! Shampoo products steal my ‘soft’ so I only shampoo about once a month in the cold months, and about once every 2 weeks in the warmer months.
BEAUTY MUST-HAVES?
scent: J’ADORE DIOR // lips: JANE IREDALE SUGAR & BUTTER EXFOLIANT // nails: OPI PASSION // moisturizer: EMERGINC HYPER VITALIZER CREAM // hair: AUSSIE 3 MINUTE MIRACLE
Perfect Chicago evening?
Dinner at MANA Food Bar in Wicker Park, and then absolutely any activity by the lake. The great outdoors make me happy! So any activity outside and you’ll see a smile on my face.
Friday Night needs a new playlist. What 5 songs get you in the mood for fun?
Abracadabra – Jessie J; Pretty Please (Love Me) – Estelle; #Beautiful – Mariah Carey + Miguel; Call Me – Kimbra; Love on Top – Beyonce
Describe your style in 5 words.
Bold, Reflective, Feminine, Blended, Evolving
What is Style to you?
Style is the outer reflection of your inner self. Deep! No, but really… Style to me is a mindset. That’s why I describe my style as evolving and reflective because I think as you discover new things about yourself it shows up in the way you present yourself to the world. It could manifest in a more bold approach to fashion or the realization to tone it down. I certainly have a different ‘style’ now than I did at 15!
And we have to ask it: Most embarrassing attribute that we’re bound to see on camera?
My face has no filter. Every emotion I feel is always on my face. And I can go through multiple emotions in a very short time frame!
