Glossed and Found

Dec 13, 2013 >> Gifting Extra! D. Graham Kostic’s Artsy Fartsy Picks

If there is one thing we love at G&F, it’s a good find (ahem… we just launched an on-line market under the same premise earlier this month). And when it comes to the holiday present finds, the hunt is sometimes as much fun as the score. G&F’s creative director D. Graham Kostic scours the web to produce a long list of items that he’s loving at the moment. And they all have a little artful touch to them. From wall decals to a balloon animal kit, the selection is part whimsy, part vintage and all fun.

A. FOLK ART GAME BOARD, $69, AT WISTERIA.
Graham says: Game in style. Hang on a wall. The colors are fantastic and this piece is so multi-functional it’s not even funny.

B. GLOBAL CHALKBOARD MAP, $168, AT ANTHROPOLOGIE
Graham says: This vintage pull-down map is a dream come true for artsy adventurers. Draw a memorable dish from Provence or write a silly quote from Puerto Rico. But keep it PG if you’re hanging in your living room.

C. CUSTOM CALLIGRAPHY RETURN ADDRESS, $45, BY WESTSHERIDAN
Graham says: Hate your handwriting? Let WestSheridan add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your Holiday cards this year.

D. BALLOON ANIMALS, $6.99, AT RESTORATION HARDWARE
Graham says: Act the clown and try your hand at a poodle or a sword or a rose. The options are endless. Well, sorta.

E. IF ONLY FOR A SECOND, 60 EURO + SHIPPING, AT MIMI FOUNDATION
Graham says: An inspiring artful project that will gain a covetable place on your coffee table. Learn more about the project by watching their video.

F. ROME OR BUST, $89, BY MINTED FOR WEST ELM
Graham says: Dare I say this candy-coated Roman is neo-classical? I don’t even know what that really means but it seems accurate.

G. BRASS COLORED PENCIL SET, $75, AT JAYSON HOME
Graham says: I’ve had my eye on this set for years. And this year, I’m putting it on my list. Who doesn’t need a fancy way to display their colored pencils?

H. SHAPEMAKER BLOCKS, $85, AT BEST MADE
Graham says: Use these colorful blocks as the centerpiece for your next dinner party and see who gives the best face.

I. VINTAGE OLD STURBRIDGE VILLAGE HANKY, $49, AT UNCLE BUNK’S TRUNK
Graham says: I love using vintage hankies and tea towels to build a cool tablecloth. Bonus points for places you’ve actually visited (Old Sturbridge Village? Check.).

F. SPRING LAUREL DECAL, $18, AT SCHOOLHOUSE ELECTRIC
Graham says: The simplicity of this wall decal is the perfect addition for a row of art or a mudroom mirror.
