Labor Day has come and gone. And you know what that means: The Fall weather will be here before you know it. And while we’re excited for cooler temps so we can wear our new fall fashion, we miss the opportunity to dine al fresco. Lucky for us, the weather forecast looks warm and sunny for the rest of the week so we can count on a few more outdoor dining days this year.
One of our favorite new spots to emerge this year is The dec, located on the 12th floor of the Ritz-Carlton Chicago (160 E Pearson St). The chic rooftop restaurant features a new Burger Lunch option, which includes a gourmet burger and cocktail for $20 (throughSeptember 30). We love a buzzy lunch deal, so we decided to ask three Chicago tastemakers about their idea of a perfect burger luncheon:

EAT “The Standard. I like my burgers classic; not too many frills and accoutrements. I want to taste the quality of the unadulterated beef!”
DRINK “You always have to do a beer with a burger! I’d probably from the craft list and opt for the Pere Jacques.”
WEAR “I’m tempted wear elastic pants so I could eat all the fries and every morsel of my burger…or I’d pick my go-to summer dress from Dolan T-Shirt I bought from Anthropologie. Screw any belly restrictions all together with a dress.”

EAT “Avocado turkey burger. I love turkey burgers and the poblano peppers add a good spicy kick.”
DRINK “Hemingway’s Heart. If a drink like that is good for Hemingway it’s great for me. But seriously, I like the refreshing combo of rum and blood orange.”
WEAR “I would wear a black belted DVF dress with my blue Alexandre Birman pumps. The dress is versatile in that it can take me from meeting with a corporate client to lunch (meeting) at the Dec. The blue pumps add a pop of color and still keeps the attire professional.”

EEAT “When it comes to burgers, I’m a purist. I’ll leave the fried eggs and kimchi to the more adventurous and stick to burger, cheese and bum. I’m pleased to see that The dec has purists like me in mind with “The Standard” burger. Just give me a side of mayo for those fries and I’m good to go.”
DRINK “My favorite part of lunching on The dec is the close-up view of the Hancock building that it affords you. The dec’s signature cocktail, Chicago Water, is also a perfect nod to the city. With its combination of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey (because we all know this is a whiskey town), lime, mint, house made pickle brine and turbinado sugar, the drink honors the Windy City while infusing a Miami Beach flare that seems befitting of a rooftop bar.”
WEAR “This is a great lunch spot for keeping it casual. I’ll be keeping it simple with a plain oxford, colorful cotton pants and loafers. I’m trying to hold on to summer as long as I can so I’ll be skipping the socks and rolling up my pants.”
