Glossed and Found

May 29, 2013 >> 5 Minutes with Eddie Borgo

Mixing rock and roll history with the pulsing energy of New York City, Eddie Borgo’s jewelry is at once a celebration of all things American. The bold and beautiful line—which recently dotted the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala thanks to Sienna Miller, Cara Delevingne and Miley Cyrus—is quickly becoming a staple for the go-to in costume jewelry chic. Eddie recently visited Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue to talk shop about favorites from his line and which celeb’s jewelry box he covets (Warning: you will too after reading).
EDDIE BORGO GLOSSED & FOUND

Q: DESCRIBE YOUR LINE IN THREE WORDS
A: Geometric. Timeless. Graphic.

Q: IF YOU COULD DIG THROUGH THE JEWELRY BOX OF ANY WOMAN FROM HISTORY, WHO WOULD IT BE?
A: Probably the Mexican actress Maria Felix. She had an extraordinary jewelry collection including the 41.37 carat Ashoka diamond. She also regularly commissioned Cartier to create pieces for her—pieces which are today the most significant of the Cartier archive.

Q: IS THERE A PERFECT EDDIE BORGO PIECE FOR EVERY WOMAN?
A: Women today understand that jewelry helps to define your look—without taking it over. I love to see women choosing modern jewelry that speaks to them; layering pieces that make sense together; wearing their costume jewelry alongside their fine jewelry.

Q: PLAY FAVORITES FROM THE SUMMER COLLECTION—WHICH IS IT?
A: For the Spring/Summer ’13 collection, we created our first chain link (called the Lattice Link). I am very happy with the way in which it turned out. We will definitely be using it in future collections!

Q: PERFECT DESIGNER COLLABORATION—WHO WOULD YOU BE STARSTUCK TO WORK WITH?
A: I would have loved the opportunity to meet artist Sol Lewitt.

Eddie Borgo Jewelry is available at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue.
