Dec 12, 2012 >> Gift Guide: Aaron Martell

Behind the uber-cool The Joneses, a local line of urbane tees, hats and outerwear, is cool cat Aaron Martell. With a great eye and a great brand, Aaron’s sense of style imitates the brand philosophy: Praise for the Individual! Command respect for who you are and not what you have! But c’mon Aaron, it’s oh-so-easy for someone who has a great point of view to support being totally unique.

Keep up with the Joneses by catching Aaron’s Gift Guide list below.

A. SHOE HORNS
I was given a pair of my grandfathers loafers and they are a bit snug.  Shoe horns are a must.

B. DOXA SCUBA DIVING WATCH
Apparently you’re not supposed to take vintage scuba diving watches underwater.  This was news to me. Doxa has had my watch since the beginning of summer.  I’d like that back wrapped under the tree.  The orange faces on these watches catches just the right amount of attention.

C. SLIM AARONS: LA DOLCE VITA
The guy new how to definitely capture a lifestyle.  Great coffee table book and stepping stone to collecting his photos.

D. VINTAGE PLAYBOY MAGAZINES
I love the look of the women on the covers of the Playboy Magazines from the 50s and 60s.  I’m looking to frame a bunch of the covers for my bathroom.

E. JACQUES COUSTEAU BOOKS
I felt somewhat like a fraud wearing a scuba diving watch and not being scuba certified. Now that I’m certified I’m reading up on Jacques Cousteau so I have some chops on the history of diving.

F. GAS MONEY FOR THE KENTUCKY BOURBON TRAIL
My friend showed me some photos of a visit to the Buffalo Trace distillery.  I want to hit the whole trail.

G. EAMES BIRD
I had the chance to visit the Eames house in Los Angeles a few weeks back.  I was the only one there.  It was amazing.  It’s such a beautiful place and I love their story.  I’m not sure anyone is willing to give me an Eames chair for Christmas so I’ll happily settle for the bird.

H. YASHICA T-4
This camera was definitely popularized or hyped recently by Terry Richardson but the pocket size and Zeiss lens make it worth being called a poseur.
