Although we like Christian Siriano’s designs, it’s his big bold smile that we like the best. The designer, who is pals with local style star Corri McFadden, came into town for a series of events to debut his Winter and Spring collections to the Chicago market. From a full house trunk show at eDrop-Off (which G&F covered in Found!) to a private dinner at Corri’s house (with the Chef Sarah Jayne Grueneberg of Spiaggia cooking directly behind us in the Corri’s kitchen), Christian got the full Chicago hello. We got a few moments with the designer to talk shop.

G&F: You’ve been dressing Chicago entrepreneur Corri McFadden. How did you guys meet? Which pieces from your spring/summer 2013 collection are perfect for young, fashionable women like Corri?

Christian Siriano: Corri and I met a few years ago in Chicago when I was speaking at Columbia College. I think Corri is one of the most stylish women I have met and there’s a lot from my spring collection that would look great on her and many young women. I think the brocade short suit, feminine flowing shift dress and our sea foam stretch leather dress should be something every woman has in her spring wardrobe.

G&F: Sum up your style in three adjectives. Three only!

CS: I don’t have my own style. I will wear an outfit for a full 14 hour day and never once think about changing. A lot of male designers are so involved with dressing women, they don’t ever think of themselves.

G&F: You used way more than three, but we’ll let it slide. Okay, so who is the Christian Siriano woman?

CS: This women has a very large closet spanning from a small to boundless budget. She can pair a $50 pair of my Payless shoes with an $1800 cocktail dress and look fabulous!

G&F: If you could see one celebrity wearing your designs as your holiday present, who would it be?

CS: I haven’t yet dressed Cate Blanchett, but she’s on the top of my list.

G&F: But seriously: what’s on your holiday list this season?

CS: I’m in the mood for a new Celine bag.
