Sep 20, 2012 >> THINK PINK! Alpana Singh shares her favorite rosé wines.

Alpana Singh knows her wines. We invited the Chicago-based sommelier on an al fresco date this summer to experience some of our favorite varietals of wine: Rosé. On a Chicago rooftop, we sipped Alpana’s favorite pinks in anticipation of her new restaurant, Boarding House, coming this Fall. Watch Alpana’s G&F Interview.

Although typical rosé weather is coming to a close (le sigh!) that doesn’t mean that we have to pack up the pink just yet. Alpana shares a few of her favorites—regardless of the weather—on The G&F Blog.

ONE >> 2011 Torre dei Beati Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cerasuolo, Italy $15
The Torre dei Beati is cherry pink color, dry on the palate with notes of pomegranates, cherries and a refreshing finish.

TWO >> NV Camille Saves Rosé Brut Grand Cru Champagne, France $75
Pink Champagne is a fun and delightful way to celebrate any occasion. The tart and tangy pomegranate flavors will cut the richness of meatier entrees such as barbecued ribs or smoked brisket. You can also pair this with refreshing fruit desserts such as a strawberry tart.

THREE >> NV Bortolotti VSQ Lagrein Rosato, Veneto, Italy $18
This fresh and juicy sparkler is bursting with notes of strawberries and red cherries. It finishes with a slight hint of fruitiness.

FOUR >> 2011 Domaine de Figuerasse Gris de Gris, Provence, France $16
This Grenache based rose represents the quintessential Provencale style rose. Pale blush hue with notes of red cherries, raspberries and delicate white pepper. Enjoy it with Mediterranean dishes such hummus, roasted peppers and marinated olives.

FIVE >> 2011 Chateau Virgile Costieres de Nimes Rose, France $15
Made from a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, the result is a wine with a pale pink hue and flavors of red fruits, sour cherries, orange zest, and more savoriness on the palate. Pair it with marinate chicken or zest sausage dishes.

NOT PICTURED >> 2011 Vega Sindoa Garnacha Rosado, Spain $8
An intensely colored and flavorful rosé from Spain. Deep cranberry color with notes of watermelon candy, black cherries and a hint of pepper on the finish. Enjoy it with charcuterie, cheese and other assorted antipasti.
