Sep 12, 2012 >> Parlez-Vous Francais? The Ombre lip made easy.

Ombre has taken the fashion world by storm. This color gradient trend has been applied to garments, hair, nails, and our most recent favorite application? Lips. Gracing the runways of Dior, Miu Miu, and this season, Nina Ricci, the ombre lip is a powerful statement and even more playful way to amp up your style. Even Hollywood darling, Jessica Biel, has been spotted pouting her soft and subtle ombre lips on the red carpet. We tried on this beauty trend for our Fall Fashion shoot and loved the result—especially when paired with a monochromatic Alexander McQueen look.

Nicole Cap of Ford Artists provides a step-by-step lesson on how to achieve this kissable style for fall using some of our favorite Nars colors. You don’t have to be a celeb or a model to rock this sassy beauty trend.

STEP ONE
After prepping your lip with your favorite colorless lip primer, begin with the darkest shade, NARS “Damned”. Concentrate on the upper lip line and fill in just above the center pout.

STEP TWO
Now apply the mid tone shade, NARS “Never Say Never” to the center pout, upper and lower lip.

STEP THREE
Fill in the lower lip with the lightest shade, NARS “Roman Holiday” (a G&F Favorite!). Set the colors by patting your lip with your finger blending upwards from light to dark. Remember that the look is deliberate so take care to maintain the graduation of color.

STEP FOUR (optional)
Add a pretty highlight to the lower lip line with NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss, in “Born This Way”.
