Jun 26, 2012 >> Summer Lovin’: Melissa Magsaysay guest blogs about her favorite warm weather scents.

Oh happy day! Melissa Magsaysay is in town tonight for our book signing event with eDrop-off. The beauty and fashion pro guest blogs for G&F today on how she preps to welcome Summer. She speaks. We listen.

It’s no secret that L.A has a seasonless climate. It’s a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it. As someone who moved to Southern California after nearly a decade spent on the east coast, I often find myself pining for the romance of a crisp fall or the hazy, balmy days of a proper summer.

To get into the spirit of summer, I turn to my favorite warm weather scents and beauty products. They’re the quickest way to transport myself into a new season, regardless of whether there’s been any actual change on the barometer.

ONE >> Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi Usage Dry Oil, Golden Shimmer
I love using body oils especially in the summer as they hydrate skin after being out in the sun, without the stickiness of an actual lotion. This oil moisturizes plus leaves a glistening golden sheen to the skin.

TWO >> Fresh Sugar Lemon body lotion
I crave the light, citrusy scent of this lotion once the spring months roll around. It’s sweet and warm weather appropriate without being cloying or overpowering.

THREE >> Kai Fragrance Oil
An oldie but goody. The mild mix of dreamy white flowers always reminds me of warmer weather.

FOUR >> Caudalie Divine Oil
I’ve long been a fan of Caudalie’s natural and luxurious products. This new dry oil can be spritzed all over the skin, face and even the hair to lock in moisture while sun bathing, leaving a subtle, non-greasy golden glow. The best part is that it smells like summer in the South of France (or at least what I think that smells like).

FIVE >> Sara Happ Vanilla Bean Body Scrub
I save a good body scrub and a sweeter scent like vanilla for summer. This scrub does double duty on scent and beautifully buffed and toned skin.

SIX >> Vittoria Apuana Eau de Parfum
A straightforward scent for summer—this Eau de Parfum blends mandarin, coconut and gardenia for an intoxicating aroma reminiscent of an island vacation.

SEVEN >> Fresh Hesperides Bath and Shower Gel
I’m not a huge fan of citrus scents until the second the weather gets warm. The Herperides shower gel from Fresh was something I used while I was attending college in Boston and one whiff of this product still reminds me of those humid days just before the semester ended and summer really began.
