Mar 15, 2012 >> In Town: Raise a glass to David Neville and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone
Got your spring wardrobe all laid out? Well, there are a few things that you still need and may we suggest turning your attention to the Rag & Bone collection this season. And you’re in luck—the boys behind the designs are coming to town for one night only. Clear your calendars for a chance to shop Rag & Bone’s Spring 2012 collection and rub shoulders with these two utterly cool designers.
We caught up with David and Marcus to get a little taste of their quick trip to the Windy City.
Q: What brings you to Chicago?
A: We’re here to showcase our Spring 2012 collection at Nordstrom and host a cocktail party that evening in the store. We’re really excited about having the opportunity to chat to our customers!
Q: Do you have any must-see places that you have to add to your itinerary when in Chicago?
A: We always love visiting Chicago but unfortunately this time around we can only stay overnight. We’re really looking forward to checking out the Pump Room at Public for dinner though. We hear its previous incarnation was steeped in Hollywood history—everyone from Frank Sinatra to Humphrey Bogart apparently used to dine there when they were in town.
Q: Sum up your Spring 2012 collection in THREE WORDS only.
A: Surf-inspired cool.
Q: The collection is all about layering—are there any hard and fast rules on how to pile it on?
A: Don’t be afraid of color, play with textures and prints and avoid going head to toe with the surf-inspired look; break it up with pieces which reference something else entirely.
Q: What pieces do you think will be perfect for the Chicago woman?
A: The Dalmeny Silk dress in Bluebird is chic, vibrant and easy to wear. The Eyelet Sweater, also in Bluebird, is an easy way of injecting color into your spring wardrobe too. It looks great with the Bright White Skinny Stretch white jeans and, when it gets warmer, shorts.
Q: Don’t stop. Tell us more. What else are you seeing for Chicago women in the Spring and Summer?
A: Bright colored jeans are once again a must this spring too. The Hart Biker jacket is another great investment as it takes the classic motorcycle jacket and gives it a modern twist with boucle knit and leather details. A tailored jackets is always a wardrobe staple—the Sliver, Bromley or Bailey are all smart enough for work but also look really cool teamed with any of our jeans and a Peru Tee.
Meet Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone Friday, March 16 from 7.30-9.00pm at Nordstrom, Michigan Avenue. Call 312.464.1515 to RSVP.
