Jan 18, 2012 >> BIG BAG THEORY: DESIGNTRIPPER’S MEGHAN MCEWEN SHARES HER ULTIMATE PACK LIST

We were dying to dig inside of this week’s Spotlight Meghan McEwen‘s carry-on to see how this travel-pro stays so cool on her long treks abroad. She opened up her bag for G&F and shared a few of her favorite items that she never leaves home without. >>

ONE >> POSTALCO FABRIC NOTEBOOKS
I take lots of notes and write little stories when I travel. I prefer spiral notebooks and these utilitarian Japanese beauties have durable cotton fabric covers.

TWO>> MODERN-TWIST COLORING PLACE MATS
The oversized silicone placement rinses clean with water. It’s kind of like a reusable coloring book.

THREE >> QUINCE AND CO. YARN
Knitting is my favorite plane, train and automobile activity. I discovered Quince and Co. yarn in Portland, Maine this summer, and it comes in the best spectrum of hand-dyed high-saturated colors.

FOUR >> OVERSIZED HOLLANDER & LEXER BAG
With the girth of an IKEA bag but without the crinkly plastic, it fits more than you can ever dream of carrying. Whenever I take it on a plane, I always get a self-satisfied chuckle. Take that, bag-check fee!

FIVE >> CAMERAS, CAMERAS, CAMERAS
My digital SLR Camera: a Canon Rebel T2i. Plus my lomo. And my Diana.

SIX >> KIEHL’S LIP GLOSS
My favorites are Golden Berry and French Rose (but only because Blackberry, which I am still mourning, was discontinued).

SEVEN >> A STACK OF BOOKS & MAGAZINES
I’m currently obsessed with a bunch of new independent magazines/quarterlies: 3191, Lucky Peach, Kinfolk, Apartmento.

EIGHT >> COTTON DRESSES
I love the new striped rugby number by Petit Bateau.

NINE >> CYDWOQ WALKING SHOE
They’re the best non-sneaker walking shoe ever. I’ve worn my two favorites—a handmade pair of leather Mary Janes from the vintage line—for seven years (and only two trips to the cobbler) with every jean, skirt and dress I own.
