Celebrate Chicago’s vibrant dance community with a wide variety of performances, events and classes throughout the whole month. WHAT // China’s First Emperor & His Terracotta Warriors Exhibit
WHERE // Field Museum | 1400 S Lake Shore Drive
WHEN // Now thru January 8, 2017 | 9am-5pm
WHY // Step back in time a couple thousand years  to China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, who commissioned an army of terracotta soldiers to protect him in the afterlife. Around 7,000 of these life-sized warriors were found buried at the emperor’s tomb, and now you can see them in person. Don’t miss this exhibit filled with  priceless treasures from one of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries!

Throughout the months of May and June, the Art Institute invites to dive a little deeper into the pieces on display with a special series of Gallery Talks. We’ll definitely be geeking out at Adam Gopnik’s lecture on Van Gogh, the interactive presentation about 19th century Native American work and the intimate tour of the Modern Wing’s best pieces.

WHY // Yes, you read that right. And no, this is not a drill. See Bikini Bottom come to life with the help of designers behind Fun Home, Hedwig and Spring Awakening, while the spirit and energy of SpongeBob gets reimagined for the stage by acclaimed Steppenwolf director Tina Landau. The story follows an endangered Bikini Bottom that erupts into chaos and awaits an unexpected hero to rise up and take center stage.
