Jun 8, 2017 >> Qi Gong for a Healthier, Happier Life!
Most of the time, being happy is easier said than done. That’s why our Summer Issue is all about spreading positivity and kindness through different movements, meditations and even some crafty DIYs that are simple to do. For this topic, we had to enlist the help of G&F’s favorite magazine-editor-turned-health-guru GISELLE WASFIE. We spent an afternoon with Giselle learning the ancient art of QI GONG—a meditation practice that’s like smiling to your organs. With a combo of sounds and movement, Giselle led us through the process of clearing out negativity stored in our vital organs to be able to usher in positivity, growth and goodness.
As an acupuncturist and herbalist (to name a few!), Giselle started her Chicago practice REMIX Acupuncture + Integrative Health in 2012. And as a former style editor for magazines like Glamour, it was only natural for Giselle to take her skills and bottle them up into an aromatherapy and beauty line, REMIX by Giselle Wasfie. Featuring some of the most chic and laidback-cool packaging we’ve ever seen, REMIX products include candles, colognes, serums, toners and more. Each product blends organic, wild-harvested and selective essential oil aromatherapy with Chinese herbal medicine that are 100 percent natural and effective on a mind-body-soul level.

REMIX is all about ancient remedies remixed for a new age, and Giselle attributes these practices, like Qi Gong, as a catalyst to positiveness inside and out. “It’s made me become more self-aware of my emotions, reactions to people or situations, and my body’s manifestation of these events,†explains Giselle. “Because of this awareness, I can become healthier, more balanced and overall a better person to myself and others.â€
And the best scents to get your Qi Gong on to? Giselle recommends grounding scents like the REMIX Focus and Clear Aromatherapy Mists, which feature essential oils like cedar wood, silver fir, sage and lavender that help keep energy planted and concentrated during moving meditations like Qi Gong or yoga.
Follow along through the six basics Qi Gong sounds and movements to send some love inside. Giselle walks us through each of the six meditations for the lungs, kidneys, liver, heart, spleen and full body. Each sound is a unique breathing technique that actually creates vibrations affecting that certain organ channel. This video is full of amazing, feel-good information that talks about the toxic energies each part of the body can harbor and the positive feelings to guide them back into bright white, healing light. Go ahead and start smiling to your organs.
